Asian stocks were mixed on Friday on fears that debt issues at the holding firms behind Portugal’s biggest bank could hurt European periphery markets.
China’s Shanghai Composite was up 0.18 percent or 3.69 points at 2,042.04. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng was flat at 23,250.94.
Japan’s Nikkei shed 0.25 percent or 38.47 points at 15,178. Singapore’s Straits Times rose 0.44 percent or 14.50 points at 3,284.
South Korea’s Seoul Composite declined 0.62 percent or 12.43 points at 1,990.41. Taiwan’s Taiwan Weighted was flat at 9,570.83.
