Asian stocks opened mixed on Wednesday as investors reacted to Janet Yellen’s comments.
China’s second quarter gross domestic product (GDP) was up 2 percent against the estimates of 1.8 percent, QoQ. However, it was up 7.5 percent versus 7.4 percent, YoY.
China’s June Industrial output was up 9.2 percent versus 9 percent, YoY. China’s Shanghai Composite was flat at 2,071.80.
Hong Kong’s Hang Seng rose 0.24 percent or 55.91 points at 23,515.87. Japan’s Nikkei was up 0.12 percent or 18.10 points at 15,413.26.
Singapore’s Straits Times added 0.24 percent or 7.98 points at 3,299.40. South Korea’s Seoul Composite was flat at 2,012.99. Taiwan’s Taiwan Weighted shed 0.20 percent or 19.46 points at 9,549.71.
