Equity benchmarks continued to consolidate but the broader markets outperformed benchmarks. The Sensex fell 2.83 points to 24614.14 while the Nifty gained 0.65 points to 7489.75.
The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices climbed nearly 1 percent each. The market breadth remained positive as about 1397 shares advanced against 850 declining shares on the BSE.
