Asian stocks pared some of their gains on Monday after data showed Chinese manufacturing activity contracted for a third straight month in March.
Hong Kong’s Hang Seng jumped 0.89 percent or 190.73 points at 21,627.43. Japan’s Nikkei rose 1.08 percent or 154.16 points at 14,378.39. Singapore’s Straits Times added 0.83 percent or 25.36 points at 3,098.75.
South Korea’s Seoul Composite was up 0.39 percent or 7.57 points at 1,942.51. Taiwan’s Taiwan Weighted was down 0.37 percent or 31.77 points at 8,545.40. China’s Shanghai Composite was flat at 2,048.60.
