Indian equity benchmarks closed flat in a special trading session held by exchanges on Saturday to test software, ignoring weak closing in US markets last night.

The BSE Sensex advanced 1.57 points to 21755.32 and the NSE Nifty rose 1.7 points to 6,494.90 amid thin volumes.
