Asian equities declined on Wednesday as trading volumes returned to normal with Japan and South Korea resuming trade following a long weekend.
China’s Shanghai Composite was down 0.57 percent or 11.50 points at 2,016.54. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng shed 0.84 percent or 185.50 points at 21,790.83.
Japan’s Nikkei tumbled 2.22 percent or 320.85 points at 14,136.66. Singapore’s Straits Times declined 0.48 percent or 15.52 points at 3,230.04.
South Korea’s Seoul Composite fell 0.40 percent or 7.85 points at 1,951.59. Taiwan’s Taiwan Weighted shed 0.47 percent or 41.57 points at 8,870.82.
