Asian equity markets rose on the first trading day of June following record highs for the S&P 500 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average last week and mixed Chinese data.
Financial markets in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan are shut Monday for the Dragon Boat Festival. Japan’s Nikkei rose 1.73 percent or 253.49 points at 14,885.87.
Singapore’s Straits Times was up 0.14 percent or 4.51 points at 3,300.36.
South Korea’s Seoul Composite added 0.16 percent or 3.29 points at 1,998.25.
