Asian stocks started the week with gains on Monday as fears about Portugal’s banking sector receded and as investor attention turned to corporate earnings.
China’s Shanghai Composite was up 0.16 percent or 3.29 points at 2,050.25. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng gained 0.82 percent or 189.51 points at 23,422.96.
Japan’s Nikkei added 0.35 percent or 52.84 points at 15,216.88. Singapore’s Straits Times was flat at 3,295.52.
South Korea’s Seoul Composite rose 0.52 percent or 10.27 points at 1,999.01. Taiwan’s Taiwan Weighted jumped 0.27 percent or 25.69 points at 9,521.53.
