Asian equities opened mostly higher early Wednesday, as investors took heart from an inspiring performance on Wall Street overnight and news of a snap poll in Japan.
Japan’s Nikkei rose 0.31 percent or 53.19 points at 17,397.25.
Singapore’s Straits Times gained 0.57 percent or 18.82 points at 3,332.55.
South Korea’s Seoul Composite shed 0.29 percent or 5.77 points at 1,961.24.
Taiwan’s Taiwan Weighted added 0.62 percent or 55.15 points at 8,914.22.
China’s Shanghai Composite was flat at 2,454.62. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng was flat at 23,519.51.
