Let's Make BP Pay

British Petroleum (BP) caused at least $18 Billion in damages when its Deepwater Horizon exploded and gushed oil for months into the Gulf of Mexico. Now, BP says it can't afford to pay for the damages. As you know the oil industry will be out of business within the next 15 years. We need to demand that BP pay up now because if they drag this debt into the future, there will not be any money left to pay for the damages. Last year, BP distributed $23 Billion in dividends to its shareholders. Obviously, they have the money. Now it's time to pay. If we let BP wriggle off the hook, they will eventually not have to.
