Buoyed by a firm global trend and increased domestic demand, copper prices rose by 0.59 per cent to Rs 382.50 per kg in futures trade today.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in June traded higher by Rs 2.25 or 0.59 per cent to Rs 382.50 per kg in a business turnover of 17 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in April month contracts was up by Rs 2.05 or 0.55 per cent to Rs 377.55 per kg in 603 lots.
Globally, copper for delivery in three months climbed 0.5 per cent to USD 5,982 a tonne at the LME, while in Shanghai, metal for June delivery gained 0.8 per cent to 43,330 yuan (USD 6,993) per tonne.
