Nifty extends rally, Sensex up 1%; HDFC, Wipro, TCS lead

The Sensex gained 261.57 points or 0.94 percent at 28194.47 and the Nifty rose 69.80 points or 0.83 percent to 8523.90. About 1589 shares have advanced, 1034 shares declined, and 160 shares are unchanged on the BSE.

Shares of HDFC, Infosys, Reliance Industries, TCS, L&T, Wipro, Tata Motors, ONGC, Bajaj Auto, Coal India and Hindalco Industries climbed 1-2 percent.
