Asia stocks traded mixed on Tuesday, with the Japanese benchmark index giving up initial gains as the yen nudged higher against the dollar.
The Nikkei 225 was up as much as near 0.5 percent immediately after the open; since then it erased gains to trade near flat. On Monday, the index had closed down 0.37 percent.
Across the Korean Strait, the Kospi was up 0.74 percent, after returning to trade on Tuesday. The South Korean market was closed for memorial day on Monday. In Australia, the ASX 200 was up 0.17 percent, led by a 1.07 percent advance in the materials sub-index.
