Gold gains as Donald Trump’s tariff threat unnerves global markets

Spot gold was up 0.3 percent at $1,282.38 per ounce, as of 0301 GMT. U.S. gold futures were up 0.2 percent at $1,283.90 an ounce.

Gold prices climbed on Monday after U.S. President DonaldTrump threatened to raise tariffs on Chinese goods, escalating Sino-U.S. trade tensions, which prompted risk-off sentiment and boosted safe-haven assets.
