Fun With Mnemonics

In electronics there are things called resistors. They have different values from 1 Ohm to several Mega Ohms. Instead of printing the value of a resistor, color codes are used - Black Brown Red Orange Yellow Green Blue Violet Grey White. Now remembering this sequence can be tough but if you can turn it into some words then it can be easy like say Bad Beer Rots Our Young Guts But Vodka Goes Well. This technique is called Mnemonics and with little bit of practice one can remember say 50 or 100 different things or whatever. For example, take a piece of paper and write down 20 objects in your living room. Use the first letter of each object and try to make an easy sequence out of them. I will give you one example: In Maharashtra there are eight places of Ganesha temples called Ashtavinayak. These place are Moregaon, Siddhatek, Ranjangaon, Theoor, Ozar, Lenyadri, Pali, Mahad. Now these are all tongue twisting names and very difficult to remember but if I can break them down to say two words then it can get easy - Mosiranthe Olepam. Try it!
